Example of ex-international students who work in Japan by using NSA's services.
Why did you decide to find a job in Japan?
I thought I want to work with Japanese. There are a lot of Japanese who are serious and professional. I wanted to improve myself by putting me into these situations. I had challenged doing internship in an IT company, which is located in Kamakura. It was the first time for me to realize how high Japanese business person level is.
Did you encounter any difficulty in getting job?
Preparation for interviews were the most difficult.

Especially it was tough to think about statement of purposes. I could tell the clear reason for a company which I really interested in, and willing to take interview. However, I was worried all the time when I take interviews of companies which I'm not really into. I hear that Japanese people would take several tens of companies, so I also applied for a company which I'm not interested in. As you can imagine, it did not go well. After all, I only applied for companies which I really want to work in.
What was your secret to acquire the job offer?
I think it because I prepared well for self-analysis and company researches. And I only applied companies which I really want to go. At the interview, I told my feeling honestly, and share future image of what I want to do in this company with interviewer. I could ask questions at the interview because I did research about the company completely. I could tell high motivation of me to work in the company because of specific questions. It would have been difficult to get an employment offer if I was not interested in and I was not sure about what I want to do in the near future. The secret is to tell about your reason for application clearly through self-analysis and company researches.
How do you think of the service of NSA?
I knew NSA services through seminar at the first time. The theme was about “self-analysis, company researches, and interview measures.” It was different from other ordinary seminar because it was for international students, and they told me in detail politely. Actually, I took interview of CASIO Japan with what I learned at the seminar. In addition to the seminar, NSA's agents helped me in private for interview preparation. They are strong ally for international students like me.
Would you please send an encouraging message for your juniors?
Be prepared well for interview by self-analysis and company researches. There are a lot of international students who want to work in Japan. However, there are not many students who can tell clear reasons for why they want to work in a specific company. You need to research about company's home page and hiring information. You can know who the company want to hire by researching.
Why did you decide to find a job in Japan?
The reason for me interested in Japan was that I like Japanese anime, and manga from childhood. And I had decided to study abroad because I knew that public security is good in Japan. I thought it would be better for me to learn Japanese business for my future career, which I would be able to use in my home country, either.
Did you encounter any difficulty in getting job?
Preparation for interview was the most difficult as well as company researches. Especially, it was hard for me to take interview in Japanese. I was taking all classes in English that why it was difficult to get used to speak Japanese.
What was your secret to acquire the job offer?
I think it is motivation. One of the biggest reasons for me to get an employment offer is that I could tell my strong motivation to work in Japan, and will to work in this company. Also the company which I applied is active for hiring Southeast Asian.
How do you think of the service of NSA?
It would be difficult for me to get a job without using NSA services. It was really hard to do job-hunting alone because I had to compete with Japanese. NSA's agents consulted me sincerely, and told me a lot of useful information and technique for job-hunting in Japan. It was really great services.
Would you please send an encouraging message for your juniors?
You had better think what you want to be in the future before job-hunting. To begin with, there are a lot of international students who are wondering whether they should do job-hunting in Japan or not. If you are interested in working in Japan even a little bit, there would be people around you to help you. Do not be troubled alone. It is important to take counsel with your friends or NSA agents. You would be able to find an employment in Japan if you do job-hunting seriously. It is difficult for international students to do job-hunting, but please try your best.
Why did you decide to find a job in Japan?
Before the college graduation in Vietnam, a Japanese company visited our University in order to find engineers who have a desire to serve as a bridge between Japan and Vietnam. Only 13 engineers have a chance to be selected amongst a thousand applicants. I studied Japanese for only three months and took n-3 level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test before I came to job and worked for that company. I made a decision to change job because I want to widen and improve my expertise.
Did you encounter any difficulty in getting job?
At first, I did not even know how to begin. I had been trying to find another job, and even joined the events presented by HELLO WORK. Unfortunately, I could not get the suitable one. I did understand the difficulties in changing an occupation as a foreigner in Japan.
What was your secret to acquire the job offer?
I was a mechanical engineer. So, it is better to try for one which is related to my expertise and I could take advantage of my experience. Furthermore, most of the job offers I applied were only from the employers who have desire to recruit Vietnamese students.
How do you think of the service of NSA?
I felt that interview preparation was very advantageous. There are many things unknown to us concerning the job interview in Japan. NSA showed me the statistics data which reflects the judgment standards of Japanese personnel managers. According to that statistics, (Personality) is the first priority. Therefore, it is better to appeal my personality than the ability. It was really good for me to get that kind of advice.
Would you please send an encouraging message for your juniors?
Well preparation is the most important for job hunting in Japan. For example, if you had the driver license, the number of companies that you can apply for job would become broader. Regarding the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, you can get many opportunities and advantages, even if you have one higher level. Then, you would feel like you have more confidence in speaking Japanese in interviews. Moreover, getting information and attending seminar are also necessary. By doing these, you can get more experiences, you can get used to the job hunting and your performances will become better in job interviews.

Message from the President

Next Stage Asia has been established for the purpose of supporting the job hunting of the international students who chose and came Japan as their study abroad destination.

Although many Japanese enterprises do not realize much, a lot of hard working students from all over the world have been coming to study in Japan.

Since Japanese recruitment standards are greatly different from those of the world, many international students are not able to get a job in Japanese firms, in spite of their hard work.

This would have to say miserable for either foreign students or Japanese enterprises.

In today’s management, it is not the lack of students being hired that is causing the employment in Japan to be in a bad state. It was a total unknown for them that the many excellent human resources have been existing in the foreign students.

We will encourage the Japanese firms to adopt brilliant foreign students through supporting the Job hunting activities, and strongly hope to make a contribution to all the expansion of Japanese businesses.
